Heroin Haul Near Pakistan Border: Triple Bust Nets 33.21 Kg
Punjab Police have dealt a significant blow to cross-border drug trafficking with three separate seizures of heroin near the Pakistan border. The total haul amounts to a staggering 33.21 kg of the illicit substance.
In the first operation, police apprehended Gurpreet Singh and another individual, recovering 8.49 kg of heroin. A separate raid led to the arrest of Jograj Singh, who was found with 4.72 kg of heroin, an unassembled pistol, and ammunition.
A third significant seizure of 20 kg of heroin was reported on July 25th. Details regarding the arrest in this case were not immediately available.
These arrests highlight the ongoing battle against drug smuggling along India’s western border. The sheer quantity of heroin seized underscores the scale of the operation and the potential threat to the nation’s youth. The recovery of a firearm further emphasizes the dangerous nature of these criminal networks. The police investigation is ongoing, aiming to unearth the larger network involved in this illicit trade. The incident raises serious concerns about the porous nature of the border and the need for strengthened security measures.
