Farmers’ Fury: BKU(C) Slams PMFBY, Demands Crop Inspection

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni group) convened an emergency meeting in Jagadhri on August 2, 2025, to address pressing agrarian concerns. The meeting saw heightened anger over the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

Farmers voiced strong objections to the compulsory deduction of insurance premiums directly from their loan accounts. They highlighted the vulnerability this creates to potential cyber fraud and financial exploitation.

The union also demanded an immediate inspection of paddy crops severely affected by disease. A detailed memorandum outlining these concerns and demands was submitted to the relevant authorities.

The BKU(C)’s actions underscore the growing anxieties among farmers regarding the efficacy and transparency of government schemes. The potential for widespread financial losses and the lack of timely crop inspection could significantly impact the upcoming harvest and livelihoods across the state.
