Mumbai Customs Scam: Top Official Nabbed in Rs 10.2 Lakh Bribery Sting

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Customs Superintendent at Mumbai’s Sahar airport on August 3, 2025. He allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 10.20 lakh from a customs agent.

The bribe was reportedly solicited to ensure the smooth clearance of imported goods and facilitate future transactions. The Superintendent allegedly demanded the money for himself and his superiors.

The CBI investigation revealed the Superintendent threatened the customs agent to secure the bribe. The arrest follows a meticulous sting operation.

This incident highlights serious concerns regarding corruption within customs departments at major Indian airports. The arrest underscores the need for stricter vigilance and robust anti-corruption measures to safeguard the integrity of India’s import-export processes and protect honest businesses.
