AIIMS Patna Doctors Strike: MLA Assault Allegations Rock Bihar
Resident doctors at AIIMS Patna launched an indefinite strike on August 3, 2025, following an alleged assault and threats by MLA Chetan Anand and his security personnel. The incident has severely disrupted emergency and outpatient department (OPD) services at the premier medical institute.
Doctors claim they were physically assaulted and threatened, demanding the immediate release of CCTV footage from the hospital to support their allegations. They are also seeking the quashing of an FIR filed against some of the striking doctors and the invocation of the Arms Act against the MLA’s guards.
In a dramatic turn of events, both the protesting doctors and MLA Anand have filed counter-complaints with the police. The police are currently investigating the matter.
The strike has raised serious concerns about patient care and the safety of medical professionals in Bihar. The incident highlights the growing tension between politicians and healthcare workers, demanding urgent intervention to ensure a safe and secure environment for doctors to perform their duties. The ongoing investigation and the government’s response will be crucial in determining the future of healthcare services at AIIMS Patna and setting a precedent for similar incidents across the state.
