20 Years Hard Labour for Ganja Duo: Atawala Drug Bust Yields Heavy Sentences
A special court in handed down a significant verdict on August 4, 2025, sentencing two drug peddlers, Rammehar and Surender, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Each will also pay a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh.
The duo was apprehended in 2018 during a routine police check near Atawala village. A substantial quantity of contraband was seized from their vehicle.
Police recovered 72 kg of ganja-patti and 4.5 kg of poppy husk during the search. This large haul underscores the scale of their operation.
