A special court in handed down a significant verdict on August 4, 2025, sentencing two drug peddlers, Rammehar and Surender, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Each will also pay a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh.

The duo was apprehended in 2018 during a routine police check near Atawala village. A substantial quantity of contraband was seized from their vehicle.

Police recovered 72 kg of ganja-patti and 4.5 kg of poppy husk during the search. This large haul underscores the scale of their operation.

The lengthy prison terms and hefty fines send a strong message against drug trafficking in the region. This case highlights the ongoing battle against narcotics and the need for stricter enforcement to curb the menace. The impact on local communities struggling with drug-related issues is undeniable, demanding continued vigilance and proactive measures.
