Army Officer’s Airport Rage: SpiceJet Staff Brutally Assaulted
A shocking incident unfolded at Srinagar Airport on August 3, 2025, involving a SpiceJet passenger, allegedly an Army officer, and four ground staff members. The officer reportedly assaulted the staff after being asked to pay excess baggage charges.
The airline reported that the ground staff sustained serious injuries, including a spinal fracture. This led to both SpiceJet and the officer filing separate police complaints. A counter FIR has also been registered.
SpiceJet is now seeking a no-fly listing for the accused officer, cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigation. The incident raises serious concerns about passenger conduct and the safety of airport personnel.
This case highlights the urgent need for stricter regulations and penalties for violent behaviour at airports. The safety and security of airport staff must be prioritised, and swift action is needed to prevent such incidents from recurring.
