Delhi Drowns: Monsoon Mayhem Brings City to a Standstill
Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi on Sunday, August 3, 2025, causing widespread waterlogging and severely disrupting traffic and flight operations. Ayanagar bore the brunt of the downpour, recording a staggering 57.3 mm of rainfall.
The deluge led to significant traffic snarls across the city, with commuters facing long delays and considerable inconvenience. Several flights were also impacted, leading to delays and cancellations.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain in the national capital until August 9, 2025. Residents are urged to exercise caution and remain updated on weather forecasts.
Despite the downpour, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained satisfactory at 79, offering a small respite amidst the monsoon mayhem.
This latest spell of intense rainfall highlights the urgent need for improved urban infrastructure to manage the city’s increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. The recurring waterlogging underscores the vulnerability of Delhi’s drainage system and the need for proactive measures to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
