Tesla Charges into Mumbai: First Supercharger Hub Opens
Tesla has officially launched its maiden charging facility in India, located at the upscale One BKC complex in Mumbai. The facility boasts a total of eight charging stalls – four dedicated superchargers and four destination chargers.
This marks a significant step for Tesla’s Indian operations, following its entry into the market on July 15, 2025, with the launch of the Model Y, imported from China. Customer deliveries commenced later in 2025.
The company has ambitious expansion plans, aiming to establish three more charging facilities by the September 2025 quarter. This aggressive rollout signals Tesla’s commitment to establishing a robust charging infrastructure across the country.
This development is crucial for the burgeoning electric vehicle market in India. The availability of reliable charging infrastructure is a key factor influencing consumer adoption of EVs, and Tesla’s investment promises to accelerate this transition towards sustainable mobility. The success of this initiative will be closely watched by both consumers and the wider automotive industry.
