Illegal Mining Racket Rocks Haryana: Enforcement Bureau Cracks Down
The Haryana Enforcement Bureau has launched a major crackdown on suspected illegal mining operations in Yamunanagar, Ambala, and Panchkula districts. Investigations have zeroed in on several stone crushers and screening plants.
The probe revealed discrepancies between operational status and online records. Many plants, despite showing high electricity consumption, are marked as non-functional on the e-rawana portal. Furthermore, these plants have reportedly filed zero GST returns.
Authorities are now scrutinising electricity bills and GST data to pinpoint illegal activities. Notices have already been issued to several crusher owners, and hearings are underway.
This investigation highlights a significant loophole in the system, allowing illegal mining to thrive. The outcome will have major implications for the state’s revenue and environmental protection efforts, setting a precedent for future crackdowns on such illicit activities.
