High Court Site Hunt: Plan Overhaul on the Cards

The ongoing search for a suitable location for a new High Court building has hit a snag. The administration is re-evaluating the comprehensive development plan, after encountering significant hurdles in identifying a viable site.

A crucial joint meeting between the Union Territory Administration and the Bar Association is scheduled. This meeting, aimed at resolving the deadlock, is expected to submit a comprehensive report by August 13, 2025.

Concerns regarding increased traffic congestion and potential environmental impacts at various proposed locations have been raised by stakeholders. These concerns have significantly complicated the decision-making process.

The delay in finalizing the High Court’s new location raises serious questions about the timely administration of justice. The efficient functioning of the judiciary is paramount, and this impasse needs immediate resolution to prevent further delays in crucial legal proceedings impacting citizens across the UT.
