Panchkula Goes Solar: Powering Communities, Saving Crores
Panchkula Municipal Corporation launched a significant initiative on August 4, 2025, to install rooftop solar power systems at 20 community institutions. This ambitious project aims to drastically reduce, and ultimately eliminate, electricity bills for these facilities.
The project, costing Rs 2.4 crore, will see the installation of 600kW solar plants across various locations. Completion is anticipated within three months.
This move is a significant step towards promoting sustainability and achieving energy self-sufficiency within the city. The initiative showcases a commitment to environmentally friendly practices and long-term cost savings.
The successful implementation of this project could serve as a model for other urban local bodies across Haryana and the nation, demonstrating the viability and benefits of transitioning to renewable energy sources. This is particularly crucial given the rising energy costs and the urgent need for environmentally responsible solutions.
