15 Lakh Bounty Hunter Gunned Down in Jharkhand
A fierce gun battle in Gumla district, Jharkhand, resulted in the death of Martin Kerketta, a prominent People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) area commander. A Rs 15 lakh bounty was on his head.
The encounter occurred during a targeted search operation conducted by security forces on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Three other Maoist rebels managed to escape the scene, while a pistol was recovered from the encounter site.
The successful operation is a significant blow to the PLFI’s operations in the region and underscores the ongoing efforts to curb Naxal activities in Jharkhand. This development is likely to impact the group’s strategic planning and operational capabilities in the coming months, potentially leading to further instability within the organisation.
