AYUSH Chief Urges Youth to Protect India’s Medicinal Plant Heritage

Faridabad, Haryana: Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO of the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH, addressed young researchers and students on August 6, 2025. His message focused on the urgent need to conserve India’s rich medicinal plant heritage.

He highlighted the significance of these plants in traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda. Their preservation is crucial for future healthcare and economic development, he stressed.

Dr. Dadhich emphasized the role of young scientists in research and sustainable practices. He called for innovative solutions to protect these vital resources from depletion.

This call to action comes at a critical juncture. The dwindling number of medicinal plants poses a serious threat to traditional healthcare and the livelihoods of many communities dependent on them. The youth’s engagement is vital for safeguarding this invaluable heritage for generations to come.
