Garhwal Rifles Honour Captain Chander Narain Singh’s Legacy
A solemn ceremony was held on August 5, 2025, by the 16 Garhwal Rifles to mark the 60th anniversary of Captain Chander Narain Singh’s martyrdom. The event paid tribute to the courageous officer’s supreme sacrifice during the 1965 Indo-Pak War.
Captain Singh’s brother attended the commemoration, a poignant moment for the regiment. He presented Captain Singh’s Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) and other medals to the 16 Garhwal Rifles.
These prestigious awards will now find a permanent home at the regiment’s museum, serving as a lasting testament to Captain Singh’s unparalleled bravery. His act of valour will continue to inspire generations of soldiers.
