Hooda Demands ₹50,000/Acre for Haryana’s Drowning Fields
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has demanded a compensation of ₹50,000 per acre for farmers whose fields have been inundated by recent floods. He levelled this demand on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Hooda sharply criticised the state government’s handling of the situation, alleging a complete failure in preventing widespread waterlogging in both urban and rural areas. The scale of the damage, he stressed, is unacceptable.
He further vowed to raise the plight of affected farmers, along with concerns over rising inflation and increased collector rates, during the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session. This will be a key agenda for the opposition.
The scale of the flooding and the government’s response are likely to dominate Haryana’s political discourse in the coming weeks. The compensation demand, and Hooda’s promise to raise the issue in the Vidhan Sabha, underscores the growing pressure on the ruling party. The impact on the upcoming elections cannot be ignored.
