Kartavya Bhavan: Modi Unveils New Era for Central Secretariat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project. This state-of-the-art building is the first of ten new Common Central Secretariat structures planned.

The project aims to streamline government operations by consolidating various ministries under one roof, enhancing efficiency and coordination. This centralisation is expected to improve inter-ministerial communication and decision-making.

Several ministries will temporarily relocate to facilitate the ongoing construction of the remaining buildings, scheduled for completion in the coming years. The shift is part of a phased approach to minimise disruption.

The successful inauguration of Kartavya Bhavan signals a significant step towards modernising India’s administrative infrastructure. This ambitious project holds the promise of a more efficient and effective governance structure, ultimately benefiting the citizens of the nation.
