LPG Stove Revolution: 5-Star Efficiency Mandate From 2026

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will implement mandatory energy efficiency standards for all domestic LPG stoves from January 1, 2026. This move aims to significantly reduce energy consumption and promote cleaner cooking.

A new star-rating system, ranging from one to five stars, will assess the thermal efficiency of each stove. This rating will be prominently displayed for consumer awareness and informed choices.

All LPG stoves sold in India, including imports, must adhere to the Indian Standard IS 4246 (2002) and be registered with the BEE to meet the new regulations. This includes stringent testing and certification procedures.

The initiative is expected to have a significant impact on India’s energy security and reduce household fuel expenses.
