Mumbai’s Ground Floor Units Get Space Boost: MCGM’s New Offer

Mumbai’s industrial and commercial units, operating from ground floors before January 1, 2000, have a reason to cheer. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has announced a scheme offering them additional space.

This expansion opportunity is available at construction cost, a significant relief for businesses. Eligibility hinges on possessing valid documentation.

Crucially, units must hold a Gumasta license from the MCGM and an LT-2 meter from BEST. This initiative aims to support long-standing businesses in the city.

The scheme, announced on August 6, 2025, is expected to provide a much-needed boost to several small and medium enterprises struggling with space constraints in the ever-growing metropolis. Its impact on Mumbai’s economic landscape will be keenly observed in the coming months.
