Shimla CPM Fires Broadside at HPSEBL, Demands Union Rights Restoration
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Shimla launched a strong protest on August 5, 2025, against the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL). The party vehemently condemned the disciplinary actions taken against several union leaders.
The CPM’s protest centered on the alleged violation of trade union and constitutional rights of the HPSEBL employees. They demanded immediate cancellation of these actions and full restoration of union rights.
The party further escalated its demands, calling for the removal of corrupt officials within HPSEBL. They also insisted on the immediate fulfillment of long-pending employee demands.
The CPM leadership also used the opportunity to criticize the state government’s policies impacting public sector undertakings, asserting these policies were detrimental to the interests of employees and the public at large.
This protest highlights growing concerns about the erosion of workers’ rights and the alleged corruption within a crucial public sector entity in Himachal Pradesh. The outcome of this protest will have significant implications for labour relations and the functioning of HPSEBL.
