Kejriwal’s ‘Gallows’ Claim: Delhi Assembly Speaker Debunks BJP’s Fury
Delhi Assembly Speaker today dismissed Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal’s claims of a British-era gallows found within the Assembly complex. The room, presented by Kejriwal as a chilling relic of colonial oppression, has been identified as a simple “tiffin room,” the Speaker clarified.
Furthermore, allegations of a secret tunnel beneath the Assembly were also refuted. The Speaker stated that the structure Kejriwal described was, in fact, existing ventilation ducting.
The BJP, however, remains unconvinced. Party legislators have demanded a public apology from Kejriwal for what they term a deliberate misinformation campaign. They accused him of attempting to exploit historical narratives for political gain.
This incident highlights the ongoing political sparring between the AAP and BJP in Delhi. The controversy, fuelled by conflicting narratives surrounding the Assembly’s history, underscores the intense rivalry ahead of upcoming local elections. The episode raises serious questions about the responsible use of historical narratives in political discourse and their potential to mislead the public.
