Bahadurgarh: Wrong-Way Driving Surge Sparks Alarm
Over a quarter of all traffic challans issued in Bahadurgarh during July – a staggering 27% – were for the perilous offence of driving on the wrong side of the road. This alarming statistic, revealed by official data, highlights a dangerous trend in the city.
A total of 5,733 challans were issued, generating fines amounting to Rs 32 lakh. The violations extended beyond wrong-side driving, encompassing drunk driving (DUI), licence-related issues, hazardous U-turns, and non-compliance with helmet and seatbelt regulations.
Authorities are deeply concerned about this blatant disregard for traffic rules. The high number of wrong-side driving violations underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement and public awareness campaigns.
The Bahadurgarh traffic police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring road safety. They have urged citizens to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, particularly regarding vehicle modifications which often contribute to accidents. The long-term impact of such negligence could be devastating, leading to avoidable injuries and fatalities. This demands a collective effort from both authorities and citizens alike.
