DU Cracks Down: Zero Tolerance for Defacement in DUSU Polls
Delhi University has declared a “zero tolerance” policy against defacement during the upcoming DUSU elections, scheduled for later this year. The initiative, dubbed “Green Election, Clean Election,” aims to curb the unsightly and environmentally damaging practice of unauthorized postering.
The university administration will strictly enforce this policy, banning all unauthorized posters and campaigning materials. This will be complemented by limitations on campaign spending to ensure a level playing field for all candidates.
Furthermore, vehicles used for campaigning will be subject to scrutiny. Those with tinted windows or missing number plates will be seized. The university is also exploring the possibility of designated “Walls of Democracy” to provide a controlled space for campaign materials.
This decisive action by DU reflects a growing concern about environmental protection and the need for responsible campaigning. The success of this initiative will set a precedent for future elections, promoting cleaner and more sustainable political engagement across the nation’s universities.
