Faridabad Hospital Pioneers Revolutionary Shoulder Surgery
Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, has achieved a significant medical breakthrough. On June 5, 2025, they successfully performed North India’s first shoulder revision surgery using a Human Dermal Allograft (HDA) patch.
This complex procedure, common in Western nations, is rarely attempted in India due to its technical challenges. The patient, 28-year-old Vasu Batra of Faridabad, suffered from recurrent shoulder dislocations.
Batra’s initial Bankart repair in 2021 proved unsuccessful. His condition worsened, necessitating the revision surgery to address significant bone loss and muscle damage.
The successful use of the HDA patch marks a significant advancement in orthopaedic care in India. This innovative technique offers hope for patients with complex shoulder injuries, previously facing limited treatment options. The success of this surgery underscores Amrita Hospital’s commitment to bringing advanced medical technologies to India.
