Handloom Revolution Rolls On: “Haat on Wheels” Launched on National Handloom Day
The Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), celebrated the 11th National Handloom Day with a bang on August 7, 2025. The day saw the launch of the innovative “Haat on Wheels” initiative and a vibrant expo at the Handloom Haat in Delhi.
Union Ministers graced the occasion, inaugurating the event that showcased the rich diversity of Indian handlooms. A total of 116 unique weaves were displayed, representing the incredible artistry and craftsmanship of our nation’s weavers.
This year’s theme, “My Handloom, My Pride; My Product, My Pride,” resonated deeply with the attendees, highlighting the importance of supporting indigenous crafts and empowering handloom artisans.
The “Haat on Wheels” initiative promises to bring the vibrancy of handloom markets directly to consumers across the country, boosting sales and providing much-needed economic support to the weavers. This initiative is a significant step towards preserving and promoting our invaluable handloom heritage for future generations. Its success will be crucial in ensuring the continued livelihood and prosperity of millions of Indian artisans.
