Haryana to Regularise Thousands of Contractual Employees: A Landmark Decision
Haryana has announced a landmark decision to regularise thousands of its contractual employees. The move aims to provide job security and improved benefits to long-serving personnel.
Eligibility for regularisation hinges on completing five or more years of continuous service by August 15, 2024. Employees must also have maintained a minimum of 240 paid workdays annually.
Crucially, previous periods of regular service with the state government will be counted towards this eligibility criteria. Service across different departments will be aggregated for the calculation.
Regularised employees will enjoy significant benefits, including salary increases, annual increments, and dearness allowance (DA) at par with their regular counterparts. They will also be eligible for transfers within the government system.
This move is expected to positively impact the lives of numerous contractual workers and reflects the state government’s commitment to employee welfare. The decision holds significant implications for labour rights and sets a potential precedent for other states facing similar issues.
