Kedarnath Yatra: Rs 357 Crore Road Repair Project Faces Delays
Landslide and subsidence mitigation work on the crucial Rudraprayag-Kedarnath road is underway, with a hefty Rs 357 crore sanctioned for the project. While the government maintains the work is on schedule, completion is now projected for 2026-2027.
Eight sites have already been completed under this ambitious undertaking. Six more critical locations, requiring an investment of Rs 145.22 crore, are currently under active construction.
However, the timeline for completion suggests delays despite official claims to the contrary. This raises concerns about the smooth conduct of the annual Kedarnath Yatra in the coming years.
The delayed completion could impact not only the pilgrimage but also the region’s economy, heavily reliant on the influx of devotees during the yatra season. The government needs to address these delays transparently and ensure timely completion to avoid major disruptions.
