Mandi Braces for Disasters: Rs 36 Crore Plan Unveiled
Mandi district administration has proposed a comprehensive disaster mitigation plan worth Rs 36.13 crore under the State Disaster Management Fund (SDMF). The initiative aims to bolster the district’s resilience against natural calamities.
The lion’s share of the funds, a significant Rs 31.79 crore, is earmarked for landslide mitigation projects. These crucial projects will focus on strengthening vulnerable areas prone to landslides.
Flood control measures haven’t been overlooked. A dedicated Rs 4.34 crore has been allocated for projects aimed at improving flood control infrastructure across the district.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mandi has stressed the urgent need for swift implementation and robust monitoring of these vital projects. Timely execution is crucial to minimize the impact of future disasters.
This proactive approach by the Mandi administration sets a crucial precedent for other districts facing similar challenges. The effective implementation of this plan will not only safeguard lives and property but also serve as a model for disaster preparedness across Himachal Pradesh.
