Monsoon Mayhem: Rs 2000 Crore Damage, 108 Lives Lost in State Floods

Torrential rains have wreaked havoc across the state, causing widespread devastation and claiming 108 lives. Preliminary assessments peg the damage at a staggering Rs 2,000 crore.

The Public Works Department (PWD) and Jal Shakti Department bore the brunt of the losses, with extensive damage to infrastructure reported across multiple districts.

The state government is currently undertaking damage assessment surveys to determine the full extent of the losses and begin the long process of recovery and relief work.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning, predicting heavy rainfall will continue until August 13. Citizens are urged to exercise caution and follow all advisories issued by the authorities.

This unprecedented monsoon fury highlights the urgent need for robust infrastructure development and disaster preparedness measures in the state. The scale of destruction underscores the vulnerability of existing systems and the crucial need for proactive steps to mitigate future damage.
