VP Polls: NDA’s Strong Hand in September 9th Election
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has declared September 9, 2025, as the date for the Vice Presidential election. Nominations will be accepted until August 21, 2025.
Scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for August 22, 2025, with the final deadline for withdrawal of candidatures set for August 25, 2025.
The vacancy arose following the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, who assumed the office of Vice President earlier.
Given the current strength of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in both Houses of Parliament, the upcoming election is widely expected to be a formality. The outcome will be decided by the combined vote of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members.
This election holds significant implications for the smooth functioning of the upper house of Parliament and the overall political landscape of the nation. The choice of the next Vice President will influence legislative processes and the balance of power in the coming years.
