Haryana’s Amnesty: Unauthorized Homes on ‘Shamilat Deh’ Land Get Legal Cover
Haryana is set to grant legal status to unauthorized houses constructed on ‘shamlat deh’ land before March 31, 2004. The state government has announced a one-year window for applicants to approach the District Collector.
This move aims to regularize properties built prior to the stipulated date. Eligible individuals can apply for legalization within the next twelve months.
The land in question, up to a maximum of 500 square yards, will be sold at 1.5 times the collector rate prevailing on March 31, 2004.
Early indications suggest significant interest in the scheme. In Yamunanagar district alone, twenty-one applications have already been received.
This regularization drive holds significant implications for thousands of residents in Haryana, offering them much-needed legal security and property rights. The success of this initiative will likely shape future policies regarding unauthorized constructions across the state.
