Rahul Singh, a 1996-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, has been granted a two-year extension as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The decision was announced on August 9, 2025.

His initial appointment to the post was on March 13, 2024.

The extension signifies the government’s confidence in Singh’s leadership and his ongoing contribution to the crucial role of shaping India’s secondary education system.

This decision comes at a critical juncture for the CBSE, with ongoing reforms and the need for consistent policy implementation. Parents and students will be keenly observing the board’s direction under his continued stewardship.
