Haryana Congress Alleges BJP Orchestrated BPL Vote Scam
The Haryana Congress launched a scathing attack on the BJP government on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, accusing it of manipulating the Below Poverty Line (BPL) beneficiary list for electoral gains. The party alleges a systematic “vote scam” involving the addition and deletion of names.
The state government, however, defended the changes in BPL family numbers, citing a recent income verification drive. Officials claim this exercise resulted in a significant revision of the list.
Congress leaders presented evidence suggesting discrepancies in the revised list, claiming many deserving families were unfairly removed while ineligible ones were added. They demanded a thorough, independent inquiry into the matter.
Beyond the BPL controversy, the assembly session also saw heated debates on crucial issues such as inadequate irrigation facilities, the state of public health services, and the long-pending demand for a new bus stand in a particular town. The repeated questioning about the bus stand highlights persistent public dissatisfaction with infrastructure development.
This alleged manipulation of the BPL list raises serious concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in Haryana. The upcoming elections will be closely watched to see if this controversy impacts voter turnout and party allegiances.
