Himachal Pradesh Schools Shut Down After Severe Weather
Heavy rains and severe weather conditions across Himachal Pradesh have forced the closure of all schools, colleges, and training institutes until September 7th, 2025. The decision was announced late Wednesday evening.
The state government has strongly encouraged educational institutions to shift to online classes wherever possible. This aims to minimise disruption to the academic calendar.
While teaching and non-teaching staff are exempted from the closure, they are expected to remain vigilant and ensure the safety and security of school property.
Himachal Pradesh University has also been closed until September 7th, 2025. University faculty have been instructed to conduct classes online.
This extended closure comes as a significant challenge for students and educators alike, highlighting the impact of unpredictable weather patterns on the state’s education system. The government’s focus on online learning underscores the need for robust digital infrastructure in rural areas to ensure continued education during such unforeseen circumstances.
