Chandigarh Braces for Monsoon Mayhem: 25 Waterlogging Hotspots on High Alert

Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has identified 25 critical waterlogging hotspots across the city, triggering a round-the-clock response mechanism. Eighteen flood control teams are deployed alongside dedicated corporation staff to tackle waterlogging issues.

Heavy rainfall on September 3, 2025, led to severe waterlogging in several areas, including the Industrial Area and Mauli Jagran. The situation prompted immediate action from civic authorities.

Mayor’s Inspection and Swift Action: The Mayor personally inspected the affected zones and directed the engineering department to expedite drainage improvements.

The proactive measures underscore the city’s preparedness for the monsoon season, though challenges remain. The focus now shifts towards long-term solutions to mitigate future waterlogging problems, particularly given the increasing intensity of rainfall in the region.
