Chandigarh Lunch Triggers 40-Year-Old Memories

A recent lunch at Qisa restaurant in Chandigarh’s Sector 17 evoked a powerful sense of déjà vu for this journalist. The experience wasn’t just a fleeting feeling; it was a profound connection to the past.

The restaurant, located at SCO No. 61, held a significant personal history. From 1984 to 1988, this very spot served as my office during my involvement in the Beas Dam project.

The familiar surroundings, after four decades, triggered a rush of memories. The lunch itself became secondary to the poignant recollections of a younger self, navigating the challenges and triumphs of that era.

The seemingly ordinary act of eating transformed into a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of time and place. It underscores how deeply our lives are intertwined with the physical spaces we inhabit. This incident highlights the importance of preserving our urban heritage and acknowledging the stories embedded within seemingly ordinary locations.
