Himachal Floods: BJP Demands Centre’s Intervention, Slams State Govt
MP Rajeev Bhardwaj has voiced serious concerns over the devastating floods in Himachal Pradesh, particularly the widespread damage in Chamba district. He highlighted the urgent need for coordinated relief efforts.
Bhardwaj sharply criticized the state government’s handling of the crisis, alleging mismanagement of relief funds. He pointed to the slow pace of aid reaching affected areas.
The lack of proper telecom connectivity in flood-hit regions was also flagged as a major impediment to rescue and relief operations. This severely hampers communication and coordination, he stressed.
The BJP MP pledged his party’s full support in the relief work, promising to dispatch essential supplies to the affected areas.
Bhardwaj further announced his intention to push for a special central relief package for Himachal Pradesh to address the long-term recovery needs. This is crucial for the state’s rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts. The scale of the disaster demands immediate and substantial financial aid from the Centre, he added.
The situation underscores the need for robust disaster preparedness and efficient fund allocation mechanisms in the state. The coming weeks will be critical in determining the effectiveness of the relief efforts and the speed of the state’s recovery.
