Twin Power Propels Sohal to PUCSC Presidency
Gaurav Veer Sohal, a law student, has secured a resounding victory in the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) presidential elections. The results, declared on September 3, 2025, mark a significant win for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Sohal’s campaign benefited significantly from the support of his twin brother, who played a key role in mobilising students. Family connections further strengthened his campaign; his uncle and brother are reportedly affiliated with the ABVP.
Despite the ABVP’s victory and the apparent influence of family ties, Sohal emphasized his mandate from the student body. He pledged to work tirelessly for the betterment of all students, regardless of their political affiliations.
This win underscores the growing influence of family networks in student politics and raises questions about the role of established organizations in shaping campus leadership. The coming year will be crucial in observing whether Sohal can effectively represent the diverse interests of the student population and deliver on his promises.
