Veteran HP Cop, Ishwar Dev Bhandari, Passes Away at 71

Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh, Ishwar Dev Bhandari, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the age of 71. He suffered a fatal heart attack.

A 1982 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Bhandari served the Himachal Pradesh Police for several decades.

He held several key positions throughout his distinguished career, retiring in 2014.

Bhandari’s last rites were performed with full state honours in his native village, Bilaspur.

His demise is a significant loss for the state, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and leadership in the Himachal Pradesh Police force. The state mourns the passing of this respected officer, whose contributions to maintaining law and order will be long remembered.
