Himachal’s Millet Miracle: TB Fight Gets Nutritional Boost
ACME Welfare Foundation, in collaboration with Tashvika India Food, is making significant strides in Himachal Pradesh’s fight against tuberculosis. The initiative, operating under the Nikshay Mitra program, provides crucial nutritional support to TB patients.
The core of this initiative is “Amrit Bhojanam,” a unique millet-based nutrition kit. These kits, meticulously designed to aid faster recovery, contain a variety of multi-millet products.
Scientific backing for Amrit Bhojanam comes from the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Indian Institute of Millets Research (ICAR-IIMR). Their research underpins the kit’s nutritional composition.
Beyond providing the kits, the program also conducts awareness workshops on the benefits of millets. This holistic approach aims to empower patients and promote long-term health.
This innovative partnership showcases the potential of public-private collaborations in tackling critical health challenges. The success of this Himachal Pradesh model could inspire similar initiatives nationwide, significantly impacting India’s fight against tuberculosis and promoting nutritional security.
