Crore-Rupee Stock Scam: Cloth Merchant Duped, Telegram Conman Nabbed
A cloth merchant from Uttar Pradesh fell victim to a sophisticated stock trading scam, losing a staggering Rs 1.5 crore. The incident came to light following the arrest of the prime suspect on September 4, 2025.
The accused allegedly lured the victim through a Telegram channel and a specially designed investment application. The fraudulent activities spanned several months, from November 2023 to March 2024.
Police investigations reveal the conman meticulously built trust with the victim before executing the scam. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in this elaborate scheme.
The Uttar Pradesh Police are now scrutinising the app and Telegram channel for further leads.
