QR Code Revolution: Chandigarh Courts Speed Up Traffic Challan Payments
Chandigarh’s Sector 43 district courts have embraced technology to streamline traffic challan payments. A new system using QR codes offers a faster, more convenient process for citizens.
Separate QR codes are now available for both e-challans and those processed through virtual courts. These codes, easily accessible online, enable quick payments via UPI.
The initiative also addresses a long-standing issue: the 90-day payment window for old challans has been removed. Citizens can now clear outstanding dues regardless of the time elapsed.
This digital push is further complemented by ongoing Special Traffic Adalats and Lok Adalats. These initiatives aim to clear the substantial backlog of pending challan cases.
The move is expected to significantly reduce the burden on the courts and improve efficiency in traffic management. This digital leap forward offers a model for other cities grappling with similar challenges in traffic fine collection and enforcement.
