Nepal Protests Ground Delhi-Kathmandu Bus, Passengers Stranded

A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus is currently stranded in Nepal following the suspension of the Delhi-Kathmandu bus service. The suspension, effective immediately, is a direct result of ongoing protests within Nepal.

The Delhi government is actively engaged with relevant Indian embassies to ensure the safe return of the passengers and the DTC bus. Efforts are underway to resolve the situation and restore the service as soon as possible.

This marks the second major disruption to the service, initially launched in 2014. The previous suspension occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of cross-border transport links to political instability in the region. The timely resolution of this issue is crucial not only for stranded passengers but also for maintaining vital people-to-people contact and bilateral relations between India and Nepal. The Delhi government’s swift response is being closely monitored.
