Mohali’s Stubble Warriors: New Force Takes on Burning Issue
Mohali district in Punjab has launched a proactive initiative to tackle the perennial problem of stubble burning ahead of the upcoming harvest season. A dedicated Parali Protection Force (PPF) has been formed to combat this environmental hazard.
The PPF, operating under the watchful eye of local authorities, will undertake a multi-pronged approach. This includes patrolling identified hotspots, strict enforcement of anti-stubble burning laws, and crucial public awareness campaigns.
Furthermore, the force will actively promote sustainable crop residue management techniques amongst farmers. This is a crucial step towards mitigating the harmful effects of stubble burning on air quality.
The initiative is timely given the increasing concerns over air pollution, particularly in the northern plains during the winter months. The success of the PPF will be closely watched as a potential model for other districts grappling with this critical issue. Its effectiveness in curbing stubble burning will significantly impact the air quality not just in Punjab but also in neighbouring states.
