Punjab Police Busts Pak-Linked Arms Smuggling Ring
Punjab Police on Monday announced the successful dismantling of a Pakistan-linked cross-border weapon smuggling network, resulting in two arrests. The operation was a significant blow against the flow of illegal arms into the state.
Authorities seized five foreign-made pistols and nine magazines during the raid. The weapons were reportedly destined for criminal gangs operating within Punjab.
Investigations revealed the arrested individuals were acting as couriers, delivering the arms on the instructions of handlers based in Pakistan. This highlights a concerning trend of trans-border criminal activity.
The successful operation underscores the persistent threat posed by cross-border smuggling and the need for strengthened security measures along the India-Pakistan border. The ongoing investigation aims to unearth the entire network and disrupt further illicit arms supplies to criminal elements within the state, impacting public safety and security significantly.
