Punjab Seeks Reciprocal Tax on Himachal Vehicles: AAP MLA’s Sharp Rebuke
AAP MLA Dinesh Chadha has demanded a reciprocal entry tax on Himachal Pradesh vehicles entering Punjab. This follows what he describes as unfair tax collection practices by Himachal Pradesh, leading to significant revenue losses for Punjab.
Chadha highlighted the disparity in tax policies, arguing that Punjab is disproportionately burdened while Himachal Pradesh benefits. He urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take immediate action to address this issue.
The demand echoes a similar proposal made earlier by the Nangal Municipal Council. The council, too, had voiced concerns over the revenue leakage caused by the current system.
This escalating tax dispute underscores the need for inter-state cooperation and a fair taxation system. The outcome will directly impact the financial health of both states and the movement of goods and people across their shared border.
