Haryana Bags Rs 6,200 Crore, Secures Smooth Paddy Procurement
Haryana has received a major boost in its agricultural sector, securing a timely release of Rs 6,200 crore in pending dues from the Centre. This crucial financial injection will significantly aid the state’s procurement operations for the upcoming season.
The Centre also approved Haryana’s proposal to streamline procurement by reducing the permissible distance to sugar mills. This move is expected to improve efficiency and reduce logistical challenges.
Furthermore, the state has been granted permission to procure 8 lakh tonnes of 10% broken rice. This will help manage surplus stocks and ensure better market stability for farmers. The state also secured early commencement of procurement and increased warehouse capacity.
The timely intervention by the Centre ensures a smoother procurement process for Haryana, safeguarding the interests of farmers and bolstering the state’s economy. This sets a positive precedent for other states facing similar challenges in managing agricultural produce and ensuring timely payments to farmers.
