Top Court Orders Ex-IAS Probationer to Face Delhi Police
The Supreme Court on Monday directed Puja Khedkar, a former IAS probationer, to appear before Delhi Police on May 2 for questioning. Khedkar faces allegations of cheating and fraudulently securing OBC and disability quota benefits during the civil services examination.
A bench headed by Justice BV Nagarathna issued the order. However, the court clarified that no coercive measures would be employed against Khedkar during the interrogation process.
This development follows a Delhi Police investigation into Khedkar’s alleged misrepresentation of her caste and disability status to gain an unfair advantage in the competitive exam.
The case highlights the crucial need for transparency and fairness in India’s civil services selection process, underscoring the importance of stringent verification procedures to prevent such alleged irregularities. The outcome of the police investigation will be keenly awaited.
