EC Slams Kharge’s Bihar Poll Roll Claim: Documents Mandatory

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday categorically rejected Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s assertions regarding the Bihar electoral rolls. Kharge had reportedly claimed that filling out forms alone was sufficient for inclusion.

The ECI clarified that this was inaccurate. Submission of necessary supporting documents remains a mandatory requirement.

Existing instructions, the ECI stressed, remain unchanged. The deadline for form submission is July 25, 2025. Applicants can submit documents either before or during the objection period.

This clarification from the ECI comes as a significant blow to Kharge’s claims and underscores the importance of adhering to established electoral procedures. The implications for voter registration in Bihar, a crucial state politically, are far-reaching and warrant close monitoring.
