Monsoon’s Mixed Bag: Tri-City Dodges Heavy Rains Despite Orange Alert

Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula experienced only light showers on Sunday, July 6, 2025, despite an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD, however, has re-issued an orange alert for Monday, July 7, 2025, followed by yellow alerts for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures in the region remained largely stable, with Chandigarh recording a minor dip.

While the region witnessed heavy rainfall in the past month and early July, causing considerable damage to property and infrastructure, Sunday’s respite offered some relief.

The fluctuating weather patterns underscore the unpredictable nature of the monsoon this year, posing challenges for urban planning and disaster management in the region. Farmers too, are closely watching these weather shifts for their crops.
