Delhi Speaker Slams Congress Over Renovation Spending Row
The Delhi Assembly Speaker’s office has strongly refuted allegations of extravagant spending on the Speaker’s residence renovation, levelled by Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav. A statement issued late Monday evening demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from Mr. Yadav.
The Congress leader had earlier cited what he claimed were public records to substantiate his claims of excessive expenditure. The party maintains its figures are accurate and has called for greater transparency in government spending.
The Speaker’s office, however, dismissed these claims as baseless and misleading. It asserted that all expenditures were within approved budgetary limits and adhered to established financial regulations.
This escalating war of words highlights growing concerns over financial accountability within the Delhi Assembly. The public awaits a clearer picture of the renovation costs and a resolution to this contentious issue, which could set a significant precedent for future government spending transparency.
